I spent weeks comparing electric bikes because I didn't want to spend this kind of money and immediately wish I had bought something stronger. The RidgeRacer definitely doesn't feel like a basic commuter e-bike. The power is the first thing you notice. The big tires also give it a really planted feel. This was exactly the aggressive style of bike I was looking for.
I almost bought a less expensive e-bike, but I knew power and battery capacity were the two things I would probably regret compromising on. I'm happy I went with the RidgeRacer. It feels substantial, looks awesome in person, and has more than enough power for the type of riding I wanted to do.
If you're looking for a little city cruiser, this probably isn't what you're after. I wanted something closer to an electric dirt-bike experience and that's where this bike makes sense. The acceleration feels strong and the 20-inch fat tires give it a completely different feel than the skinny-tire e-bikes I've ridden.
I've ridden regular bikes on some of the same rough roads and trails and there really isn't much comparison. The wider tires give the RidgeRacer a much more confident, planted feeling. Add the front suspension and it handles rougher surfaces much better than I expected. One of my favorite things I've bought in a long time.
There are hundreds of e-bikes online and after a while they all start looking the same. The 5500W setup is what made this one stand out to me. I wanted something I wasn't going to outgrow after a month. The RidgeRacer feels like a serious machine and that's exactly what I was hoping for.
That's the best way I can describe it. It doesn't have the light little bicycle feel that a lot of e-bikes have. The frame, fat tires and power make it feel much more substantial. I bought it mainly for weekend riding and now I find myself looking for excuses to take it out.
Range anxiety was probably my biggest concern when shopping for an electric bike. I liked that the RidgeRacer uses a 48V 30Ah system because I'd rather have more battery capacity than I normally need. I haven't tried to squeeze every possible mile out of it, but having that extra headroom makes longer rides much more enjoyable.
My original budget was lower, but every cheaper bike I looked at involved giving something up. Less power, smaller battery, skinny tires, etc. I finally decided I'd rather buy the bike I actually wanted the first time. No regrets. The RidgeRacer is powerful, comfortable for me and just plain fun.
Bought this thinking it would mostly be a weekend toy. That lasted about three days. Now I'm taking it out any chance I get. It's quick, feels stable and the display makes it easy to keep an eye on what's going on while riding. Probably one of the most fun purchases I've made this year.
Pictures made it look aggressive and thankfully it has the ride to match. The bike feels solid underneath you and there's plenty of electric power available. I especially like that I can use the gears and pedal when I want instead of it feeling like a one-dimensional electric scooter.
I originally wanted the RidgeRacer mostly for dirt and rougher riding, but I've ended up using it around town too. The 20-inch fat tires are probably my favorite part because they give the bike a really stable footprint. It's definitely a bigger, heavier-duty ride than a traditional bicycle.
